SAVE MAA!!! – SIGN THE PETITION!!!
So both games are shutting down. This is a sad day for everyone. The above picture obviously a hoax or Playdom blatantly lying to Steve.
However, we do stand by everything else we stated in our previous post. We still feel that MAA 1 is the SUPERIOR Game. MAA 2 is a fine game but MAA 1 is better. That is still our opinion and we stand by it. Also the results of yesterdays poll show that we are not alone in that opinion by far! Can MAA 2 be made better? Yes! Can it be improved? Absoulutely! Another flaw that we blatantly forgot to mention about MAA 2 is that we have no control over the heroes we get to recruit. Thank you players for reminding us of that and please take note Playdom that this will be one great step in improving MAA 2.
With that said know this — MAATIMES.COM was created out of pure love for MAA 1! We considered posting some stuff about MAA 2, but that is NOT where are passion is guys. We simply love Marvel Avengers Alliance and MAATIMES.com will continue to promote it even after the game sunsets! Playdom you got something RIGHT when you created that game in 2012.
Now to be fair to Playdom let’s talk about some things WE DO like about MAA 2. We would like to see these improvements brought into the game if all possible
- The PVP system seems to be more balanced and fair.
The fact the we no longer have to worry about getting pummeled in defense is a BIG relief. Why can’t we adopt the same system in our current MAA 1 PVP tournaments?
2. The back up team was a cool and great idea!
We loved that we could have a backup team and switch them out when A) the current character was getting to tired and low on stamina and/or health. B) the were killed. Think about how fun and cool this would be especially in PVP! We can start off with the Agent and two heroes as always but will have the ability to swap them out with any three other characters we like at ANY time we like! Think about it guys! 😉
3. The game does NOT run on FLASH.
From what limited knowledge we know about programming. We understand that FLASH may not be the best platform to keep running MAA 1. In fact many have stated that this is one of the main contributors to the Hacks and system failures we see in the game. It may be time to consider a serious migration. Note, that if Playdom is to move MAA 1 onto a new and stable platform, then all the data (players earnings, heroes, weapons and all) MUST come with it! That is NOT an option. Will this be costly? Probably? Will players be willing to contribute to help picking up that cost. PROBABLY SO! Why don’t you ask them and do a poll? We at MAATIMES certainly would. If MAA 1 had 100,000 current users (we actually have NO IDEA on how many it could be more) and every user contriubted $25 for the migration, that would be $2.5 million dollars that Playdom could use to help fund that cost. Would that be enough? I tell you what, we will ask for you below with our own poll.

25$ as lowest possible donation!? You GOT to be kidding…… if there is gold or an item included might be a different thing. But its just hilarious to let the players (who possibly already spend 50$+ on a browsergame!) pay for PDs mistakes (to keep game on flashplayer). They have screwed it, they are earning money with the game for 4 years+ and we should pay? Hell no!
Retaining player data should not even be a concern. Its all stored in databases on the back end. Changing the overlying interface from Flash to HTML5 or something else, while time consuming, should not impact the underlying player data.
Honestly this is something the devs should have been working on long before now. Flash was declining as a platform when MAA1 was launched.
Honestly, I love the game. I’ve played it darn near every day since it launched. Same with MAA2. Yes MAA2 does some things better than MAA1 and vice versa. I want to see neither go away. When folks start with the Doomsday prophesies based on forum rumors and random screen shots that lack context, it chases players away, and damages the games. Sometimes, let the glass be half full people.
There are currently something like 300k PVP players. Difficult to count folks who don’t play PVP, simple to count PVP players.
Well you were right! Despite what was written above by the support person, MAA2 is shutting down: http://help.disney.com/en_US/Marvel
So much for that notice giving you hope of the game continuing as they just announced they’re closing both MAA1 and MAA2 at the end of September. Looks like they were blowing smoke or the person answering your question was completely in the dark about the looming closure.
well looks like it was the final battle after all but also for MAA1 🙁
