5 Things You Should Know About Dual Class Heroes

maa_dual_class_heroes2016 will come to be known as the year of the Dual Class heroes.   They were first introduced to us by the “Warriors Three” in 2014.     In 2015 we got only one character, Beta Ray Bill.   However, this year a whole slew of dual class characters were rolled out into the game. (see pie graph below)

There are things you should know about these unique characters as the nature of their dual class can get confusing at times

1) They are dual but not equal. Dual classes have a Dominant Class.

That’s right all Dual class heroes actually have a dominant class (or primary class) and a secondary class.   The game does not make it very clear which one is the dominant either.   Below is a chart/timeline of dual class heroes.    To distinguish which one is dominant we list that class first.   For example   Hogun’s dominant class is actually scrapper so he is listed as Scrapper/Infiltrator.
2) The dominant class determines which class E-ISO’s may be put on the character.

Many people would like Dual class characters to be able to accept E-ISO’s from both class types, but only the dominant class is accepted.   Although many people want this, other people argue that if they did then, some heroes may become over powered (OP) very quickly.

3) The dominant class determines which class the character contributes to the PVP bonus.

Since the Hero PVP bonus is in alphabetical order, sometimes it can be hard to tell where the hero is being placed.  That is especially true if the hero’s name comes at the end of the alphabet and the dominant class is in a popular section such as Blaster or Tactician.

4) The secondary class is how classes are found in the team page.

Why Playdom set it up this way is beyond my understanding.  It seems to cause more confusion than not.   So when you are looking for that popular Infiltrator/Scrapper on your team page look for them on the scrapper page!   They also show you the secondary class symbol before you begin battle to really through you off.

5) Class changing enemies fighting dual classes can be inconsistent at times.

This is where it can really get confusing.  For example Mindless ones in season 1.10.4 change to the same class they are being attacked from.  What happens if they get attacked from a dual class?   One might conclude that they would change into the dominant class of the dual class hero, but that is not the case.   Instead they seem to go to a “default class” no matter what the dominance is.   The pattern is as follows

Infiltrator/Tactician = Tactician
Bruiser/Blaster or Blaster/Bruiser = Blaster
Bruiser/Scrapper or Scrapper/Bruiser = Scrapper
Scrapper/Infiltrator or Infiltrator/Scrapper = Scrapper
Tactician/Blaster = Blaster

As for class changing enemies that change to the counter class (ie Mockingbird, Bastion) seem to change at random whatever class they choose.

Below is a list/timeline of all Dual class heroes in the game.
